Something in the pond: What was it?

I was walking in Central Park on Saturday. As I passed by two grounds keepers I overheard one telling the other about something weird he had seen last week. Apparently, last Thursday the Bethesda Terrace was blocked off early in the morning and guarded by guys in dark military gear. This park worker hadn’t seen what they were doing, but he said he saw a large wet object covered by a tarp being hauled out of the park on a white tractor trailer and flanked by seven or eigth black SUVs. I didn’t hear any more of the story because they got into a park vehicle and drove off. It’s new York City, weird stuff happens here all the time.

  1. Wonder if it has anything to do with that exhibit they shuttered at the Natural History Musuem? A girl I work with was complaining they had, “like, half a floor blocked off”.

I would ask for more details, but she, like, totally makes me nuts (and I was honestly kind of surprised she could *find* a natural history museum. Her knowledge of history only extends to the last three pages of Perez Hilton. . .).

    Google to the rescue?

  2. And, then I go to check my email, and China has sealed off an entire town with plague.

    Okay, getting weird now.

  3. Personally, I think whatever it was you saw in the sky must have crash landed in the lake behind the fountain and drowned. The first of many? A scout sent to check our reaction time and emergency procedures?
