5 Movies of 2010 I'm keeping my eye on.

Here are five films that have peaked my interest for the upcoming season. I’m not entirely certain as to their quality. In fact, I’m not even saying they’ll be good movies or even watchable. As they are not currently out in theaters I’m simply calling this my outlook list. In no particular order:
- “Legion” (yeah, I’m not fond of the name either). The Synopsis: When God loses faith in mankind, he sends his legion of angels to bring on the apocalypse. Humanity’s only hope lies in a group of strangers trapped in a desert diner and the Archangel Michael. (A bit controversial pitting Gabriel and Michael against each other, but maybe the religious community will take the hint that angel films don’t have to star Roma Downey, and could be action, suspense, war-style, epic films.)
- “Clash of the Titans” (excited about this one). The Synopsis: A remake of the 1981 film version of the myth of Perseus and his quest to battle both Medusa and the Kraken monster in order to save the Princess Andromeda. (Sounds like the plot of Super Mario Brothers.)
- “Resident Evil: Afterlife” (I see a theme developing…). The Synopsis: Alice’s battle with The Umbrella Corporation isn’t finished. Last time we saw Alice, she let them know she was coming after them. It’s time to settle the score. – Paul W. S. Anderson (Monsters, Zombies, and takin’ it to the man… seems to be a 2010 action genre theme, no?)
- “The Book of Eli” (God, angels, demons, gods, monsters, zombies… wait a new Bible? Seems someone is searching for something). The Synopsis: A post-apocalyptic tale, in which a lone man fights his way across America in order to protect a sacred book that holds the secrets to saving humankind. (Mad Max meets Bible toting, knife wielding Denzel Washington, hmmm. Perhaps it will be good.)
- “Solomon Kane” (oooh, oh.. look a contradictory Biblical mythos based name for the main character). The Synopsis: Solomon Kane is a 16th Century soldier who learns that his brutal and cruel actions have damned him. Determined to redeem himself, Kane swears to live a life of peace and goodness but is forced to fight once more when a dark power threatens the land. (Apparently he’s not a Protestant…)
As I stated earlier, I have no idea if these will come to anything good, but the trailers peaked my interest. I’ll just have to wait an see. Sure there are plenty of superhero movies and stuff coming too, but I’m bored with the superhero movie genre. I no longer get that rush like I did from the first spiderman film. I think that genre has had its season. I don’t think “Thor” is going to help the cause. Also, since movie tickets in NYC are so expensive, I’m looking for movies that will make good at-home watching too.
I’m watching “The Hobbit” tonight. Yes, the 1978 one.
