What I really wanted for Christmas but knew no one would get me :(

The post we all should never write is about to flow forth from my fingers…

Christmas is great, but for those of us who never get what we want it has become a tradition of Wish-shopping for one’s self before realizing that the pair of socks you’re going to actually receive is never going to compare to that new toy you really wanted. My new toys-that-I-didn’t-get of this season are as follows (in no particular order): (more…)

The Obligatory Holiday post… Late.

by on Sunday, December 28th, 2008

So, the holidays went smashingly, minus getting a computer delivery delayed by three feet of snow.  I got a chance to hang with the family in west Michigan during the blizzard and to introduce them to a real game. My family is large so we celebrated Christmas this year with no major gift giving, just the stockings hung on the stairwell with care. On Christmas day the extended family (the ones that show up to stuff) got together at my grandma’s village for the Christmas auction. The auction, in case you may not know, is a tradition started by my mom and aunt when they decided that getting presents for the cousins was getting a pricey. The auction is just that, an auction. Gifts of low cost or funny nature are placed beneath the tree and auctioned off for a set number of fake money bills printed with my cousin’s face on them. This year I got a cookie sheet, cornbread mix from another country, some girly stuff from Victoria’s Secret, two Superman kites, and I forgot the rest already. As you likely can guess this is much funnier for the grown-ups than it is for the kids.

Upon returning to New York and discovering that my girlfriend’s flight had been cancelled delaying our personal Christmas together, I plopped down in the chair here to watch something on Hulu. While watching a random show called Crusoe, which reminds me of all the old “stranded on an Island” cliches I can think of, I came across what I’m considering “the find” of this Christmas season. I don’t know how long this link will be good for, but here is the newly revamped Christmas carol list from Doctor Octoroc named “8-bit Jesus“.

8bitjesus

8-Bit Jesus is a comical yet, frelling sweet variation of your standard Christmas carol list except it’s crafted in true 8-bit music format with a game inspired flair for each tune. The whole album of 18 fun filled songs is available for free on Doc’s page. Download it. It deserves to be played in a mix with other classics, as I belive it has reached LEGENDARY status.
